Jules Rimet

1930 World Cup – Uruguay

Frenchman Jules Rimet is a prominent figure in football who, from the 1920s onwards, did much to bring the sport to the world stage. President of FIFA for over thirty years, he naturally lent his name to this trophy, which was awarded from 1930 to 1970, the year Brazil kept it permanently after winning the competition for the third time. This particular trophy is a replica of the one awarded to Uruguay in 1930.
